Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen
Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen’s praxis is based on performance art, also transformed to different materials and medias as video, photography, sculpture and installations.
Cuenca’s productions involve the body, scripted texts, songs; composed music as well as intricate visual elements as costumes used as set design. She gathers, adapts, and universalizes her narratives in both a critical and humorous approach to issues such as identity, culture, religion, gender and social relations. Since 2016 Cuenca has been working part time as Associate Professor in Timebased and Performance Art, University of Bergen, Faculty of Art, Music and Design.
Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen (b. 1970) graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 2002. Cuenca Rasmussen has since had solo exhibitions at venues such as the National Gallery of Denmark, Horsens Art Museum, Kunsthal Nikolaj, Röda Sten Konsthall, Gothenburg and Middelheim Museum, Antwerpen. The artist is represented in public collections of Horsens Art Museum, Horsens, Museet for Samtidskunst Roskilde, HEART; Museum of Contemporary Art, Herning, The Danish Arts Foundation, the National Gallery of Denmark, Malmö Art Museum, Malmö and KIASMA, Museum of Modern Art, Helsinki.
