Ida Kvetny
Ida Kvetny (b. 1980) is a Danish interdisciplinary artist, who lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Kvetny is classically trained with a BA in Drawing and Painting from Edinburgh College of Art and a MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design (2007).
Characteristic of Kvetny’s work is her use of powerful colors and unique visual scape she creates. With her multidisciplinary approach Kvetny’s work spans from drawing, painting, sculpture, installations, video, virtual reality, and AI works.
Kvetny therefore extends the field of classical art forms, when she incorporates new technologies: In the AI works the algorithms becomes active co-creator. Through this multimodal visual practice Kvetny creates an immersive fantasy world with references to the subconscious, science fiction, art history, philosophy, and cyberfeminism. Kvetny’s work continues to push the boundaries between several artforms: creating new hybrids. For the viewer her AI works becomes an interactive experience.
In connection with her exploration of AI work Ida Kvetny founded Radar Contemporary with Diana Velasco in 2018. Radar Contemporary is an artist driven virtual exhibition platform, which focus’ on contemporary artists who work with new technologies in artistic context.
Throughout her career Ida Kvetny has had several national and international exhibitions at: Center Pompidou, Málaga (ES), ARoS, Aarhus (DK), Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen (DK) amongst others.
Ida Kvetny has furthermore participated in numerous film festivals with her AI works: ‘VRHAM!’ Virtual Reality and Arts Festival (DK), ‘FIFA Interactive’, Montéal (CA) and ‘Light and Future International Film Festival, Houston (US).
